Not a Fairy Tale. Little Match Girls in China

The poor girl in the picture, photoed on January 20, is only 8-year old and lighted a match for warming hands in the cold weather.


She is from a needy village of Guizhou province, which is one of the most lagging province in China. Living with her parents in Guiyang, the largest city in Guizhou, she had to collect scraps in weekend for earning some money.


She is not the only "little match girl" in this city.
