Mother Monkey and her Child in Chilly winter

Heavy snow had killed 24 people and affected 77.86 million people in 14 provinces, including Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan, by 2 p.m. on Monday. The China Meteorological Administration issued a red alert earlier that day for severe snowstorms in the central and eastern parts of the country.

Chinese shares plunge

SHANGHAI, Jan. 22, 2008 (Xinhua) -- A man watches a screen showing the stock index at a stock market in east China's Shanghai, Jan. 22, 2008. Chinese shares plunged more than seven percent on Tuesday amid panic selling over worries of a possible U.S. economic recession. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index which covers both A and B shares tumbled 354.68 points, or 7.22 percent, to 4,559.75. The Shenzhen Component Index finished down 1,215.08 points, or 7.06 percent, at 15,995.85.

China seeks name for South China tiger cub born in South Africa

The South China tiger cub in Lory Park Animal and Owl Sanctuary in north of Johannesburg of South Africa, Jan. 20, 2008. The cub is the first of his species to be born in captivity outside of China. Born in the Laohu Valley Reserve about 600 km south of Johannesburg on Nov. 23, 2007, the male South China Tiger cub is now healthy and strong. The Save China's Tigers Foundation, which oversees the "re-wilding" training project for four South China tigers at Laohu Valley, will initiate a naming campaign for the little cub worldwide. There are only around 60 South China tigers left in captivity and less than 30 in the wild.
The cub is the first of his species to be born in captivity outside of China.

Breathtaking, steel pipe penetrating TAXI

On January 20, in a street in Shanghai city, the wet and lubricious road surface make a TAXI hit the street centerline fence and the 3 steel pipes penetrated the TAXI.
Fortunately, the cab driver was only bruised his head and two passengers are not injured.

Not a Fairy Tale. Little Match Girls in China

The poor girl in the picture, photoed on January 20, is only 8-year old and lighted a match for warming hands in the cold weather.
She is from a needy village of Guizhou province, which is one of the most lagging province in China. Living with her parents in Guiyang, the largest city in Guizhou, she had to collect scraps in weekend for earning some money.
She is not the only "little match girl" in this city.

Real "Madagascar" in China! Bear Couple feckly escaped from zoo

January 20 in Wuhan Zoo , These two bears almost escaped from their cage via bamboo bended by snow. But this couple at last failed and were driven to their home by working staff.

For Bananas! Monkeys' Invasion

This photo taken on January 20 showed that a wandering monkey was climbing on the wall of local residence building in Nanning City, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
After stealing lots of bananas and corn cobs, this monkey was caught by working staff from local zoo.

In some southern Chinese Cities, Street Walkers solicit customers even in daytime!
This video is captured in Nanning, the capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In the city center square, tens of prostitutes canvassed "business" in the face of day. In some southern Chinese cities, the prostitution has become very common, comparing with Beijing.

Robber kidnapped three-year boy in downtown and confronted Police for hours
This accident took place in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. A robber rushed into a shop and stabbed a man. In the later bandit-police confrontation, the robber kidnap the man's son. Fortunately, the police rescued out the boy successfully; Unfortunately, his father was finally dead for massive hemorrhaged.
