Horse fight in South China

Visitors watch two horses fighting in Rongshui in southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008. The folk custom of horse-fighting originated from a solution to a marriage dispute about 500 years ago, according to the local people. Now the ritual is held during festivals as a celebration.

Firefighters are trying to control the fire at a warehouse in Foshan, south China's Guangdong Province in the early morning on Feb. 14, 2008. Thunderous explosions destroyed all fireworks and firecrackers in the warehouse, and only two people suffered slight bruises from broken glass. It was reported that the explosion could be felt kilometers away.

Museum of mah-jong to open in Chengdu

Mother Monkey and her Child in Chilly winter

Heavy snow had killed 24 people and affected 77.86 million people in 14 provinces, including Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan, by 2 p.m. on Monday. The China Meteorological Administration issued a red alert earlier that day for severe snowstorms in the central and eastern parts of the country.
